Obituary - Roland Gene Elikofer
June 28, 1947 - June 28, 2026
Roland Gene Elikofer, 79, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away on June 28, 2026. Born on June 28, 1947, Roland was the beloved son of the late August and Marguerite "Peg" Elikofer. He lived a life that epitomized what it means to be a good man.
Roland graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. While attending Bowling Green, he combined his passion for broadcasting and country music by working as a radio DJ under the on-air name "Rol Evans." He was also a proud member of Rho Sigma Mu, an honorary society recognizing excellence in broadcasting.
Following graduation, Roland built a distinguished career in broadcasting. He retired from the State of Ohio as a broadcast engineer before continuing his work with Sinclair Broadcast Group at WSYX as a broadcast engineer. Throughout his career, he earned the designation of Certified Senior Television Engineer, a professional certification awarded by the Society of Broadcast Engineers, reflecting his expertise and dedication to his profession.
Outside of work, Roland enjoyed bowling in a local league and generously volunteered with a smoking cessation support group, helping others improve their health and well-being. He treasured time spent with family and friends and was a devoted animal lover. Roland and his beloved late wife, Marilyn, adored their dogs and lovingly included them in every holiday card they sent.
Anyone who knew Roland knew he was rarely without a small notepad he carried in his pocket. He will be remembered for being kind, thoughtful, reliable, and pleasant. Friends and family will miss his gentle spirit, and the way he consistently put the needs of others before his own.
Roland is survived by his sister, Eloise; his nephew, Jack (Tyanna) Elikofer; and Jack and Tyanna's children, Ava, Lincoln, and Robin, his niece, Liza (Adam) Bueno; his niece, Jessica (Hile) Williams; along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Elikofer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Humane in honor of Roland's lifelong love of dogs.
